VEIL
No rules engines, no combat automation, no clutter. Clean visuals, fast setup, total control in the DM's hands. Your players see the world. You run the game.
No rules engines, no combat automation, no clutter. Clean visuals, fast setup, total control in the DM's hands. Your players see the world. You run the game.
Veil is a DM-first virtual tabletop designed to stay fast, clean, and practical at the table—without breaking your workflow. Run encounters, reveal what matters, and keep players focused on the story.
We play our way.
Veil exists for one simple reason: nothing else felt right.
I tried the big VTTs. Some were too bare-bones. Others buried you under setup, subscriptions, add-ons, and endless configuration. The costs stacked up, the interfaces got in the way, and what should have been quick and powerful felt slow and complicated. Eventually, we dropped VTTs altogether and stopped using maps.
But my players - many of them new - liked the maps. They made things a little easier. We just needed something that worked for us.
So... I built it.
Veil is a DM-first virtual tabletop. The DM controls the world. Players are viewers - focused on immersion, not buttons. No rules engines. No combat automation. No status tracking. No turning your tabletop session into a video game. Just clean visuals, fast setup, and the freedom for the DM to run the game the way it's meant to be run.
Veil is designed to be simple without being weak: easy map swapping, effortless player management, lighting, fog, walls, doors - tools that stay out of your way until you need them. Powerful where it matters, invisible where it doesn't.
Pair Veil with the Encounter Manager and Travel Manager, and you get a seamless flow: journey across the world, arrive at your destination, slip into Veil to explore the dungeon, then automatically drop into the Encounter Manager when steel is drawn or fireballs are thrown.
No fuss.
No friction.
Just players seeing the world and the DM bringing it to life.
This isn't a replacement for the tabletop. It's a veil pulled back just enough to let everyone see.
DM View is your control room: scene setup, tokens, fog/LoS, and tools. Player View is clean and focused—showing the map, movement, and only the information you’ve revealed.
Veil is currently free to use, and the core experience will always be accessible to everyone. That said, running servers, storing maps, and pushing Veil forward comes with real costs. Over time, some advanced features may be more limited for free users to help keep the lights on.
If you enjoy Veil and want to help support its continued development, you can back us on Patreon or Ko-fi using the links below. Every bit of support helps keep Veil growing, improving, and evolving - without losing sight of what it was built to be.
Access timing: Patreon grants instant access to gated features after login. Ko-fi is usually applied within 24-48 hours (manual sync).
Thank you for being part of the journey. Welcome to Veil.
